Producers will gather a demographically diverse group of people to generate feedback and discussions on the product.
A group of people with different ages, likes, ethnicity etc. will usually view a pilot episode of the show, this may be recorded to observe the audiences reactions to the content. After this a guided discussion will take place, the producers may ask if they understood all of the content or if they found themselves getting bored at any stage. The group will then answer and discuss their different perspectives. The main downside to this is that some members may lead the group into agreeing with their opinion however focus groups tend to jog memories brining many ideas to the surface to then be deconstructed by producers.
