Yes No
11 1

Why?

For this question, the main response was that they felt that if the trailer appealed to them and interested them, then it would affect their decision to go and watch the whole film, whether it have a positive or negative reaction. There was one response that disagreed with the question, and they felt that trailers mis-represents the full films, and prefers to make their own mind up about it.

Q.5 Did you like the Kick-Ass 2 trailer?

Yes No

Why?

The popular response for this question was about the action, humour and the fact that Jim Carrey stars in the film. All of these elements are included in the trailer not only to give a taste of the film, but to draw in the viewer and encourage them to watch the film. Jim Carrey in particular is a big name in films, and has stood out to a lot of people as a talented actor, and therefor people who would not usually watch this genre of film would be interested in it.

Quantitative Questionnaire Results – Human Error

Human Error

I had posted the quantitative results previously somewhere further down the blog, however I recently realised that there were more recorded responses that people that took the questionnaire.  This is because one of the students taking the questionnaire began writing his own irrelevant answers and not completing it properly.  To avoid this anomaly I decided to remove that questionnaire from the batch which then ultimately changed the number part way through.  Seen below is the updated, accurate results sheet.

Above is the results to our questionnaire. I split the results, so that in one table we have the quantitive results for the age, gender etc. and in the other table, we have the results to the actual questions in the questionnaire. Someone in our group tallied them up so it was easier to enter the numbers in a spreadsheet. There was one anomaly in the results when tallying them as one questionnaire, the taker did not take it seriously and didn’t correctly give the answers. We took this one out so we could get a correct number of results that would help us find out about our target audience.

The blog should be appealing to the target audience and having the information directly from the source should sculpt the posts included to engage them.  The layout of the blog should resemble and be as easy as popular social networking sites as these are used a lot with the audience and so know their way around them, feeling comfortable with the layout.  Comedy is a popular choice in drawing in the audience along with the hours of television watched a week.  Current topics seen on TV placed in a humorous light helping will help to explain media practise and the manipulation producers actually have over programmes.  This should engage with the audience much better.

The questionnaire worked well with a diversity of people to build an audience profile for the blog.  The questions being humorous worked well, observations of people filling it out survey showed them laughing at certain answers.  The most common was to the Internet question if it stopped working at home – lie on the floor, tries not to cry, cries a lot.  The comedy aspect may however have influenced some people’s answers, as they too wanted to have a laugh by choosing the abstract answers creating an anomaly in the results.  Taking a large number of responses could determine the average response so the majority of the audience can now become the main target for the blog.
